Miracle on 49th Street

An important symbol in the book is the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. Throughout the book Molly Parker and Josh Cameron are at the tree sharing a special moment. For example, when Molly and Josh start spending time together for the first time, they are walking down the streets of New York City and stop at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. Then Josh tells Molly the story of him in college, when he met her mother at the tree hours before his NCAA Championship Game. This is the first time that Josh really acts like a father to Molly.

Another time when Josh and Molly are at the tree sharing a special moment is at the end of the book, when Molly goes to New York to see Josh play in the Knicks and Celtics Christmas game. Hours before the game she goes to the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree hoping that Josh would come pick her up so she could live with him and not move to California with her mothers friend, Barbara. After waiting for a long time she decides he is not coming and prepares to leave disappointed. Then Josh finally shows up and they leave with each other.

Miracle on 49th Street

The book Miracle on 49th Street is about a girl named Molly. Molly's mother, Jen Parker, died of cancer and now she wants to get to know her real father, which happens to be the star point guard of the Boston Celtics Josh Cameron. Throughout the story she tries to get him to accept her as his daughter, but he does not believe her. But as the story goes on, he begins to believe her and starts to act like her father.

The main conflict of the book is molly trying to convince Josh Cameron he is her father. After she first told him he wanted to take a DNA test but Molly wanted him to believe her himself. When Josh finally started spending time with Molly he was really just trying to find a nice way to get her away. Then as he kept spending time with her he began to truly act like a dad. By the end of the book he accepted Molly as his own daughter and took care of her.
